This event forms part of UCL Migration Week which runs from Monday, 4 April to Friday, 8 April 2011.
This interdisciplinary session focuses on the sexual health, attitudes and lifestyles of migrants in the UK. The research presented draws on distinct but complimentary projects that have sought to understand and evaluate the reproductive and risk behaviours of an important part of the UK population. Richard Mole (UCL) analyses the comparative sexual health of gay and straight East European migrants in London; Fiona Burns (UCL) discusses HIV infection amongst Africans in London; Lucy Platt (LSHTM) examines the effects of migration and risk of sexually transmitted infections and HIV among female sex workers from Eastern Europe; and Catherine Griffiths (UCL) explores the social and cultural influences on relationships and sexual experiences among young British Pakistanis in London.
