Sir Michael PItt, Chair, Infrastructure Planning Commission

Sir Michael Pitt is chair of the Infrastructure Planning Commission, which authorises national infrastructure projects under the Planning Act 2008. He was previously chair of the South West Strategic Health Authority (known as NHS South West), which oversees the operation of the National Health Service in the South West of England. Michael Pitt graduated from UCL in 1970 with a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering. He has worked for the civil service, private sector and local government, with the majority of his career in County Council Technical Departments.
