Flinders Petrie’s excavations in Egypt were followed each season by an annual exhibition. This lecture explores the historical context of these exhibitions and shows the influence they had on archaeologists in training, specifically John Garstang, who helped found the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology at the turn of the 20th century, and later became the Director of the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem.
